THE DEEP BLUE

The Deep Blue explores our relationship with the oceans. This series began after Nadia had a succession of vivid dreams of both belonging to the oceans and encounters with whales. Nadia took up scuba diving and discovered a world where the sense of interconnection between living things is far greater. Water becomes a kind of living matrix - currents that affect everyone, omnipresent eyes. Creatures observe you, but our vision is too weak to see all we are seen by.

In this series Nadia explores the use of acrylic gel mediums to create translucent layers which add three-dimensional depth. Her work doesn't reveal eveyrhing to the viewer at first glance, but one is compelled to look further.
